I finished 2021 with a whooping 104 reads under my belt, but with all those reads, there was a lot of my bookshelf I didn't read. In an effort to get some of the books that have been sitting around here that I have truly wanted to read but haven't gotten around to, I pulled a stack off books off my shelf and set them closer to my reading chair so I'll reach for then first. I did my best to reach for both backlist/older reads and newer reads that I got more recently. I plan to do this continuously throughout the year to work away at my overfilled bookshelf!
Here is what I'm working on getting through first:
I'm reading Still Life first, I started it the other day. I have heard so many great things about Louise Penny and wanted to start at the beginning of the Gamache series (which has quite a few books!)
I'm also looking forward to reading All my Puny Sorrows soon as I love Miriam Toews and it is being made into a movie that is coming out soon!
Defy the Night is a few fantasy world from the author of A Curse so Dark and Broken, a series I loved. I got it for Christmas and I am very very excited to read about this new world.
The Great Alone and The Heart's Invisible Furies are two "backlist"/older books that have come SO SO recommended. They are thick books but so well loved that I am going to commit to reading them in 2022.
February is a book from a few years ago that won Canada Reads (I LOVE Canada Reads). I recently read her new book that comes out in 2022 and I loved it so I am looking forward to read this one which already has such high praise.
In addition to these books, I am also really looking forward to reading a few on my Kobo. In particular I am excited to read When The Stars Go Dark. It is a literary mystery and I've been told the writing is so beautiful.
If you are reading any of these in 2022, you should reach out so we can chat once we both read it!
